Benefit Bike ride

Our family participated in our first benefit ride today! We took part in Joel's Ride. The proceeds go to local community organizations such as food pantries and a Women's shelter here in Johnson County.

The ride was 10 miles long- we opted for this opposed to the 25 mile ride. It was along the streets in a fancy part of town so we got to see some really nice homes along with some great open land. It took us one hour to ride 10 miles. I was pretty impressed. We also were able to get Jackson fitted for a new helmet by some professionals that should fit PERFECT!

It was a great ride and we really enjoyed the exercise along with the opportunity to help others!

We continue to enjoy our weekly rides- Jackson gets most of the attention in his bright yellow buggy!

Jackson, the snake hunter!!!

Justin thought he would introduce Jackson to all things boys this weekend... mostly playing with SNAKES!! We were in Jefferson City with Justin's family. It was a great trip with Jackson as the center of attention and the best entertainment. We loved spending time with Justin's parents and sister as well as getting to meet Emily's new boyfriend, Ben.

Justin found a snake... although he is afraid of them he thought it would be great to let Jackson play with one. Jackson picked up the snake off the ground and then put the snake in his mouth. All I heard was Justin and Ben yelling... NO!!! Luckily Jackson did not eat the snake.

We enjoyed lots of fun activities such as ice cream, wagon rides, a tricycle and playing in the water. Jackson is a little young for the sprinklers but loved water guns. He also enjoyed his first trip to Central Dairy!

Play!

Jackson loves to play outside or look outside! We are trying new parks as often as we can. Jackson is getting pretty good at climbing! I continue to be home with Jackson on Mondays and Fridays so we play hard for 4 days straight!
We also get to play with Jackson's friend's Logan, Bordy and Mason often. The nice weather has been great and we are excited to explore even more and enjoy good times with good friends this summer.

Mother's Day

Jackson helped picked out a fabulous new SLR camera for me this Mother's Day. We purchased a Canon Rebel. It takes amazing pictures and is super quick! I am still in the process of learning to use it as it has lots of options. I am really enjoying it. I am determined to use it in manual setting with ease!!

We also ordered Jackson a new Bruley Bike Trailer and also picked him up a fancy helmet to keep his brains safe too! Justin and I both love to ride bikes and are excited to ride on the weekends as a family. Jackson LOVES being in the trailer. He is not as fond of the helmet but he will get use to it! Once we put him in the trailer for the first time he just started singing! Then he fell asleep. We enjoyed an hour and half ride this morning. There are great trails near our home. Justin has his SUV all set up so we can throw the bikes on top and take off. We are planning to ride most Saturday and Sunday mornings. Justin pulls the trailer. Several times today I heard Justin say... "Dude you are going on a diet." We figure it is about an extra 50 pounds he is pulling. It makes us about even as I am slow as it is!! We are very excited for this new family time hobby. It is also great since we know can spend Saturdays together!!

Unfortunately Jackson has not been feeling well. He has had a fever for about 24 hours but no other symptoms or issues. His fever got to 103.5 today. He seems to be a little better now but slept most of the day so is all out of wack with his naps.

I feel very lucky to have such a handsome little man and big man in my life.

Be sure to watch for lots more pictures as I am so excited for our new camera. Justin loves it too!
